ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Best Florida Beer Homebrew Championships is an AHA and BJCP sanctioned homebrewed beer, mead, and cider competition sponsored by the Dunedin Brewer's Guild. This is the kick-off competition for the Florida Circuit Homebrew Competition, the year-long, state-wide competition to find the best homebrewer and the best homebrew club in Florida.

ELIGIBILITY

The BFBC is open to all Florida Homebrewers and members of Florida Homebrew Clubs. All entries must have been brewed on a non-commercial system. Entries brewed at commercial establishments, including brew-on-premises are ineligible.

HOW TO ENTER

All Beer entries must be in 10-16 oz. brown or green glass. Raised NO DEPOSIT, or manufacturing codes are acceptable. Common brand raised lettering (e.g. Sam Adams or Bass) are acceptable. Beers must be capped with crown caps. Meads & Ciders may be entered in 6-16oz bottles. Grolsch-type swing tops are acceptable for meads and ciders only. No 22 ounce bombers, 750 ml bottles or plastic bottles are permitted. Bottles not meeting these requirements will be disqualified.

An entry consists of 3 bottles. Each entry will cost $6. Paper entries will not be accepted. All entries must be entered via the online entry system. Make checks or money orders payable to the Best Florida Beer Championships. Please place your checks in an envelope and attach this to one of your entries with a rubber band. The online web entry can be be accessed here: Reggie BFBC 2013. Online payment via Paypal can also be accepted via the online entry form.

The on-line entry system will create a bottle identification page for each entry. Attach the completed bottle I.D. form to each bottle with a rubber band. ENTRIES WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT TAPE OR GLUE. RUBBER BANDS ONLY!

We will be once again working on the 'Beer Railroad' where we organize clubs from all over the state to drive their entries to the next club to save everyone on shipping. Keep checking back on the web page for more info on this.

The competition has concluded and the results are in!

Best in Show awards will be announced at the Brewer's Ball on March 3rd!

CATEGORIES

All BJCP beer and mead categories and associated sub-categories from the 2008 BJCP style guidelines will be accepted in this competition. Complete style guidelines can be found at the BJCP website. Entrants are responsible for placing their entry in the proper category. No entries will be re-classified. With fruit beer, herb beer, specialty beer, smoked beer and meads, be sure to list the special ingredients.

All 28 categories of beer, mead, cider and their associated sub-categories will be accepted. NOTE: Categories 1-19 are restricted to two entries per sub-category by Florida Homebrew Circuit rules.
